SSIS, SSAS and SSRS(MSBI) interview questions: – Explain the following terminologies in SSIS

Control Flow

In SSIS Package Control Flow defines the tasks to be executed.

Example: We define operations such as “Execute TSqlCommand on Database”, “Send Mail” etc. in Control Flow.

Precedence Constraints

In the control flow section of SSIS designer we use precedence constraints to define

  1. Order or sequence in which control flow elements will be executed.
  2. Condition when it should execute – it means it will let us define whether next Control Flow element should be executed if previous one fails or succeeds. We can also mark it to execute every time.
